Hey all! I have five 7 week old birds. Two of them are Easter eggers. I am thinking one pullet and one cockerel but I wanted to see if anyone could weigh in?
thanks for any help!
We just got done at the vet. She has a respiratory infection. She had a fever of 105 (vet said 103 is normal for chickens). She's not egg bound. We got some antibiotics and she got a calcium shot since she hasn't been laying.
They cannot get her in until tomorrow at 8am. She seemed a bit better today. I did see her in the nesting box for awhile. She got out, sang her song but there was no egg. I put her in a warm water bath for awhile and I put lubrication on her vent. I feel like she may have been wheezing while I...
I added a packet of the electrolytes and probiotics to their water.. she had about 3-4 sips after that was added. I also gave her 1ml of the nutrition supplement.
Okay thank you for your input. From what I'm reading, it sounds more like worms. I will call the vet first thing in the morning. I really hope she makes it through the night.
I soaked her bottom a bit tonight. I didn't stick a finger in her... I just felt around her abdomen and looked at her vent opening. I have never wormed any of my hens. They have been on grower/finisher food since I have some young pullets in the mix who can't eat layer pellets yet. They have...
Hi all. I have a wellsummer who is about 15 months old. I've noticed over the last few weeks that her egg production has slowed. She hasn't laid an egg now in about 4-5 days. Her comb is slightly pale. She may have lost weight as well. I thought maybe she was in an early molt until tonight...
It was suggested to me that a rooster could defend the flock. We have had issues with dogs, hawks and raccoons. They currently only free range when they're supervised by me. I want him to be more of a help than a hassle though. So far, it has been the latter.
