I have some older laying hens that I'd like to rehome in order to make room for younger birds. They still lay a couple of times a week.
"Rosie" - Black Australorp
"Mary and Martha" - Lavender Orpingtons
"Gertrude" - Red Sex Link
"Pepper" - Easter Egger (lays blue eggs)

Hi there! I have 4 hens for sale. They will all be 2 in April and have all gone through their first molt (the lavenders have just regrown feathers). They all have lovely, calm temperaments. Making room for some new babies this spring.
White Easter Egger - "Pepper"
Black Australorp - "Rosie"...
This is our brown (not sure if she's a true chocolate or not) orpington, Sam. She's 18 months old and is continuously broody. If you want a broody orpington she's your girl. $5 OBO
We're located in upper MD, I can drop her off if need be and reasonable driving distance.
My chocolate orpington has been going broody on and off since March. She's been in broody jail 3 times so far. I finally decided to let her sit some eggs since she was so desperate to be a mama. Luckily we have a roo so giving her eggs to hatch was no problem.
She had 7 but kicked one out, now...
You just have to keep an eye on hatcheries. A lot of them are coming to the end of their season because the cold weather is starting. You could always buy yourself some hatching eggs on ebay and hatch them yourself.
The EE is my middle son's chicken and he really wants her to lay pink. We'll have to see! Luckily I can get eggs from the farm next door for $2 a dozen but yeah it'd be nice to not have to buy them anymore.
We have 2 hens out of 6 laying right now. One's been laying for a while and one just started. Waiting for the EE to start laying, I can't wait to see what color her eggs are.
We have a rooster and I have a 7 year old, a 5 year old and a 2 year old. The rooster so far has been a good boy, but I don't let the kids in the chicken run very often. The other day I did and he started crowing at me after they left, he wasn't impressed. He hasn't shown any aggression yet...
