I have 4 ducklings that are 2 months old and 4 ducks that are 3 years old. One of the 3 year olds is a drake and I think 2 of the ducklings are drakes. When can they be put together safely? My older drake seems very interested in mounting all of the ducklings. Is this a domination thing?

I have 1 drake and 3 hens. When one of my buff orpingtons went broody this past spring, I took 5 duck eggs and slid them under her and 4 were fertile and hatched under her at 28 days. 😊. I would say in my experience, there is a good chance your duck eggs are fertile. Below are: Mama Goldie...

I don’t have a lawn. I have woodchips.

Are pine shavings ok for duckling bedding? The mama chicken (she hatched them) does NOT like the wood pellets. Im worried she will abandon them if she is not comfortable, however, Im worried the ducklings will die if they stay in the shavings and eat too much of them. Advice?

Once they hatch, two have hatched so far and they both look strong & healthy so far. Two more to go. Once they all hatch should I move them to their private space or should I move them now with two left to go?

Its a chicken that is brooding over them. Does that make a difference? Im worried she might smother them. Its her first time hatching eggs (and mine!). Thank you for replying!!!😍
