I got him from a local guy that has a great reputation and sells lots of chickens all different breeds. He sold me 2 splash and this blue when they were about 14 weeks old. All 3 appear to be mixed, this one and one of the splash appear to be roosters. They are really small too.

Could he be a bantam?

I'm so sorry to hear the little guy didn't make it. Any way you can get a chick that's less than 48 hour old? Maybe he or she would be more likely to stay under the hen.
