Thanks for checking! We got the holes for the posts dug today, and tomorrow we’ll set the posts and hopefully get the floor attached. I’ll post some pictures after tomorrow’s progress.

The red heat light was brutal. The peepers are just over a week old now. I bought a kit for them that came with a red heat light. That light was brutal and they never once laid down and basked under it. So, I bought a black heat light and within minutes it was soft peeps and they settled in just like this. I had never seen them do this under the red light.

How high was the red light?

I have a thermometer directly under the light and it was high enough to keep the temperature at 95 degrees. They just wouldn't settle down and were frantic most of the time. Once I changed that light out with a black light, they immediately calmed down. I'm now thinking about changing out the black light with a ceramic heat bulb for them, so they develop a better circadian rhythm.

We have started our chicken journey. The six baby chicks are on order, scheduled to arrive May 24th. We are building the Woods open air coop 6x10 version with a 6x12 run attached to the front since the girls won’t be able to run the yard during the day. This is our site. It will sit towards the back of the yard in between the trees facing south. We have a lot to do. 🙂
