This is a really in-depth wonderful post.
But what about meat and eggs?
I didn't research all of them but blu-kote can't be used on meat producing animals.
The fans are right next to the globes. I thought that would help disperse the heat quickly and evenly but yeah, they'd be sucking in hot air I guess. There is a vent hole inbetween the fans and globes to draw in fresh air but obviously not enough to cool it.
I thought the fans facing the same...
Dunno why there is 2 pictures.
But look at it!! It's pretty legit looking right? It fits 72 eggs and cost me bugger all.
Manual turn but I don't have to open the door to turn them, I just pull/push a rod for each level and it rolls all the eggs
But it overheats dammit.
Built an incubator, pretty stoked with myself.
Started it up for a few hours and everything seemed good though I did need to fine tune the thermostat to get less bounce in temp as the heater switched on and off.
Came back a week later, started it again...
Temp got to 37.7C (100F) then ever so...
I can't view any of the images .
All that comes up is a picture of a tachometer with photobucket written underneath.
I was really excited to see someone use this idea.
Hey all!
I've been doing some research into different egg colour layers.
What I aim to achieve is to have 2 pens of purebred flocks. One of a dark egg layer, preferably Barnevelders because they are beautiful and a good breed on their own, and one of a blue egg layer so that I may cross breed...
Sorry that is badly written
- would you put holes in the ducting at each level of eggs?
- 2 light bulbs and a fan where the crisper normally is. Possibly another fan somewhere else.
And the the rest of the fridge space (besides the crisper) is taken up by 3 evenly spaced trays.
Do you know...
Hey there lazy gardener.
This a great point you make. Thank you. I have never even considered ducting. Is this a commonly used method?
Would you be able to explain your opinion on getting fresh air in and circulated and old air out?
If the fan draws in fresh air at the bottom and ducts it...
I'm so torn between having the fridge upright with multiple racks.
Which eliminates any options as I would have to have a fan but also creates an entire new conundrum of what kind of heat element to use and where to place it to get a consistent temp throughout the incubator.
OR
Having the...
Hmm that is a good point. You're talking about the condensation dripping down to the bottom yeah?
Would the condensation not be dripping off the top to though? I guess it has to be on a wall to avoid getting water on the bulb itself.
What if I put the light bulbs on either wall but still under...
The fridge will be on it's side. The internal space will be 42cm from bottom to top. Is that still too tall?
I'm still undecided on the heat source but I think I probably will end up with light bulbs just because it's so cheap and easy but it will be dual bulb so chances of both of them blowing...
Hi all.
Building an incubator out of a little bar fridge over here.
I've done my research on R.H. and the pros and cons between still air and forced draught.
I'm going with the still air option but I have hit a bufuddling concept and cannot seem to find research on the matter, so I am asking...
Thanks for the replys.
She is 2 years old.
I'm not sure if she got out and back into the coop somehow but if so it's possible my dog might have done something.
She's in a difficult to access pen now so i didnt get her out this afternoon but it seems to have gone back into place! I don' want...
