So, if i am reading this right, you intend to continuously breed your own chickens. That would be the answer to the "why not hybrids?" question. May i ask why you want to breed your own? Are you going to sell eggs? Do you want to have meat birds and layers? How many chickens are you getting...

what does that even mean? revert back?? They lay more eggs than most pure bred chickens...

+1 I am 6' and built a 4'(w)x6'(l)x5'(h) run. if i could change one thing it would be to add an extra foot to the height!!

I recently made my coop out of an old machine crate. it was not as cheap/easy as i had hoped. i would definitely recommend just framing your own coop with 2x4s or 2x2s. you'll be able to size it to fit your space better.
