I don't think it was wire, but maybe it was, I will check for gaps. She's lowest in the pecking order so I suspect bullying. How long did you isolate for? She really wants back with her flock but I fear they will peck her injury.
Not sure what initially happened but the other birds must have pecked her. That was almost a week ago and about 3 days ago her comb and around her eyes started swelling. I'm noticing that she's scratching the area. What can I do to help? I've cleaned it with wound spray and put antibiotic...
Thanks! We got the mites taken care of. I only have chickens that are molting losing feathers now.
I currently can't find equimax available anywhere but amazon and have used that for tape, but the valbazen seems to have worked as I am not seeing anymore segments. I am treating them again on day...
And she passed already. That is the fastest any of my chickens has ever died. I had a paralyzed one live for 3 weeks before I had the state lab euthanize her and another that had some sort of wry neck that stayed alive for well over a month.
I haven't been able to put any birds down on my own other than a chick that had neurological issues. This one is my husband's favorite bird that he picked out as a chick in feb of 2021. Ugh. No one warned me how many diseases effected chickens.
I may look into CO2 tanks so I can just gas them...
Yeah, I'm thinking so as well. I have the la-200 and needles so I have her a 0.8 cc dose. I figure if anything, it gave me injection experience where I had none before.
She was perfectly fine yesterday. There are other bird that looked worse. We also have possible MG and Mareks so it could be...
I just found one of my chickens laying on our poop board with an intact egg, but she will not walk or stand and there was a egg yolk substance mixed with her poop. The only antibiotic I have on hand are doxycycline and la-200. Will the la-200 do anything to help her?
I'm looking at buying this:
https://www.mikesfalconry.com/product/mediworm-tablets-for-the-treatment-of-worms/
It doesn't contain ivermectin, but not sure on the dosing. Chickens are a bit bigger than pigeons, hawks or falcons I think.
I can't find a vet to do a fecal float without needing to see the bird, which is not affordable.
I've done 2 pour on ivermectin treatments along with permethrin dusting and liquid permethrin in the coop as I was not sure what parasite we were dealing with. (Loss of feathers and feather damage)...
We definitely have tapeworms. I will include the picture, but we also had depluming mites. I treated the birds with ivermectin pour on. Both recommended meds for tapeworms have ivermectin in them. Is it safe to orally dose with ivermectin a week after the pour on? I found a dewormer with that...
I'm glad the ivermectin worked. That is what I have treated my birds with recently since I am pretty sure it is depluming mites based off the severe feather loss and no visible bugs on the birds. I'm hoping after a good molt my birds are better.
The roos are separate so the feather damage isn't from mating. Is there anything else that can cause that kind of feather damage? They also have tapeworms again 🤦
Every time I fix one problem, a new one comes along 😞
