Dogs that are good with chickens?

That's funny, my sister's husky (growing up around ducks, chickens and cats) has never gone after the birds or kids or cats. It depends on the dog, and the owners. The problem with general, blanketed policies and rules is they don't account for individualism.

Dogs that are good with chickens?

It ultimately depends on the individual dog. My sisters and I all have "aggressive" breeds (huskies, pitbulls and doberman). Our dogs are super friendly and affectionate, we all also have cats and my sister with the huskies has ducks. Her husky gets along and plays with the ducks-, kittens and...

    Egg laying/Dual breed

I was fully intending to raise my chickens for eggs only, but I recently learned that 4 (2 RIR and 2 white Plymouth rocks) of them are apparently excellent for dual purpose. I know that I do not want to use the other 4 for dual purpose, just eggs. Is there any conflict with having I guess you...

    Possible Fox predator situation

I do not have any experience with this, however, I've been doing a lot of research as I am expecting my first flock in about 2 weeks. I recently came across this YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0Ums5eCUFixaJdwKxD1p9wyTSpAbUgMo ) which I have been finding helpful. I know...

    Fermented food?

I am expecting day old chicks and ducklings in about 2 weeks. I am a first time flocker, and am doing all I can to be prepared and to ensure safe, happy and healthy birds. One thing I have been coming across lately is the idea of fermenting the food. I get the jist of it, sure. I do have some...

    Mix flock coming soon!

Thanks! For the brooder bedding: for the ducks I have layers with newpaper, and one of those porous rubber liners for kitchen drawers. I was considering hemp straw for the chicks. I am not 100% sure what I will do with the coops as far as bedding. I have been reading a few methods, including...

    Getting Babies This Friday

Ihave something similar for the chicks. I was concerned about the ducklings not being able to dunk their heads? It's my understanding they need to be able to dunk their head to rinse their nasal passages?

    Getting Babies This Friday

Hey everyone. I am planning to get the baby chicks and ducks this Friday. So far, I have the brooding boxes-2 boxes for each the ducklings and chicks, (so I can just pop them in a clean box then take the box and clean it), heating plates, Feeding dishes and water dispenser for the chicks. I'm...

    Hello, everyone!

I see you and I are going to be friends! 🤣 Its funny how little women know about women's history. Women have been working (even in science fields) long before 1950. Was it common? No, but it definitely wasn't unheard of. everyone is biased-lol

    Hello, everyone!

I mostly research for my own sake. It started because I don't respond well to modern medical practices, and I ended up trying to expand my knowledge to better care for myself. Unfortunately, most people are not open to receiving new knowledge- especially if they have a strong opinion on a...

    Hello, everyone!

Hi there! I am planning to get only female chickens ( I am not allowed to have roosters where I am), I am also planning mostly females for the ducks, but would be open to one male -as I know too many males could lead to aggressive behaviors (for both ducks and chicks). I also have 3 plans in...
