I am repurposing an old hutch into a cage that will give them access to the ground during the day, and the plan is to train them to walk up into their enclosures at night. The hutch can accommodate two separated coveys.
I planned on receiving 24 eggs to hatch and the farm accidentally shipped 3x that amount so I’m ordering one more pre-fab hutch that I will modify to also allow ground access. I’d love to keep them all but three coveys seems like more than enough for this newb.
If you’re doing the math, I had just under a 50% hatch rate which I’ve read here ain’t too shabby for shipped eggs and a first timer. I used the Nurture Right 360 incubator with quail egg trays I ordered off Etsy.
