I have a hen who’s about 5 years old. She was off her perch this morning and she can’t walk. She keeps falling to both sides, like she can’t keep balance when’s she stands or walks. Stroke? Any advice? She seems healthy otherwise. Thank you for any advice you can give
Thank you for the information! No discharge, no smell. Eating and active. The only visible sign she’s not well is her color is paler than usual. I looked up stridor and she sounds very similar to the videos I listened to. Hopefully that’s all it is. It came on over night too so maybe it will...
My girl woke up with a respiratory thing. She makes sounds with every breath. Little rattling and weezing. Could she have swallowed something wrong or something stuck? I have vetrx but don’t know if I should use it or that to do. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
We have veins!!! In that picture of the egg I posted! The rest have a darker shadow and looks like an air sac but no veins... is it normal to have an air sac around day 6 with no veins?
So I found my girl laying on about five eggs and if the fertile I don’t really want to get rid of them all of them have kind of a darkness to him compared to the non-fertile egg that I got fresh. But this one egg I have a picture of has a kind of dark shadow in it that was moving around in the...
This morning I happened to see my hen poop thankfully, because I saw a few small, white worms wiggleing deeper into the poop. It’s about 20 degrees here so probably to escape the cold. I dug through it but I couldn’t find them when they weren’t moving. She’s been acting fine and I haven’t seen...
There was a slight dented line about a year ago and it has gotten bigger and now there is grey... hard stuff in her nostrils. Is this always there and we can just see it now. Is this all due to age? She will be 11 this July. No significant injuries to her head. Survived 3 fly strikes in the past...
I noticed my rooster has thick, weird scales on his legs. Is it Scaly leg mites? He’s the only one who looks like this and he is acting fine. He is about 6 years old. Thanks everyone!
I haven’t seen any other signs of that disease with him or our others thankfully. I’ll start him on vitamins! His other owners adult son did NOT like him and I’m pretty sure he’s been kicked a lot before. I’ll try it and keep an eye on him!
The hens don’t mind him now. Even a few choose to hang out with him instead of the other rooster. He definitely learned if he’s an ass the hens just leave him. It was funny to see him peck on and then looked confused when they left. He’s never drawn blood from them. He is an ass but I’ve always...
I’m not really sure. 🤔 he has a massive poof on his head. Maybe that’s covering it? I haven’t heard of that before. I’ll try to check but I don’t want to hurt him.
