It has been a while. With it being winter, we were only getting a few eggs, so I wasn't concerned. They are just starting to pick up laying again. We still aren't getting a lot, but a few more now. She has not laid one in a while though.
Is water belly always squishy? I have a girl who's lower belly/abdomen is round and feels swollen, but not at all squishy. It is not pushed outward , just round. It feels more like it's filled with air or something. Her poop looked good, although she did pass a very small amount of water this...
You think? That's what we thought also, but then he settled down and his comb and waddled stopped growing. We weren't so sure then! He is pretty cute though! Thanks!
Ok, this little one is 10-12 weeks, bantam frizzle. Any guess on sex? We are thinking buff orpington for breed. It's really tough with the frizzle feathers! The comb and waddled have not grown or changed in a couple weeks.
Really, buff brahma? Interesting. It is probably not pure as it was from the farm store. I tried really hard to try and pick a pullet as I also got a frizzle and was pretty sure he is a roo. I can't have 2, so I'm still Praying.
Yes, it did seem to be empty the morning I checked it. I did think we were in the clear. But then it happened again. She is only getting her feed and I did give her about a spoonful of yogurt yesterday with her feed and the stool softener. I will continue the coconut oil. Thank you!
My poor girl has a large mass stuck in her crop. She is able to get some food through as she is pooping. It feels fibrous as best as I can tell. I've given her coconut oil and stool softener. How many days can I give her that? Is there even a point? I don't know if she can pass whatever is in...
I am hoping. She didn't mind when I put it in her today. Atleast if we can get her crop to empty, then we can take it off. Hopefully, she will be ok.
How sad to watch her pass, but also, kind of good for her knowing you were there. I dread that day. These girls are our first flock. I'm...
I think she may have a pendulous crop. I am going to try a crop bra today and see if that helps. I guess this may become a life long issue. We shall see. Thank you!
Thank you. She seems to be having a bit of an issue again this weekend. She is just a year old. We are giving her coconut oil and massage. She is pooping, so that is good. She is behaving normally as well, so I'm hoping we can get this cleared up before it becomes a big problem.
I have a hen who has a large food book. I've noticed it a few times, but never thought much because the other girls did too. We were watching them this morning, and noticed she also has a bare spot on her breast where her crop is and it looked a little red. I kept thinking about this and...
