No the rooster isn't necessary. He's just loud and causes the eggs to have cholesterol when fertilized.

Found a turkey in the road on a hot day, so it got to go for a car ride in the AC. I apologize if it belonged to you, it was just so hot outside and it seemed lost and overheated.

I have snowflake quail and I've recently found that I'm supposed to have a license as well. Although, it is only actually necessary if you plan to breed and sell. They're the same as bobwhite quail they're just a colour difference. The license is only $10. You can get it at academy or Walmart...

Most chickens of any breed will flock together. I always introduce new birds at night while everyone is asleep. They wake up together and there's not much confusion of the stranger in the nest. Roosters are typical feathered men, they like to be the head of the roost and have all the hot chicks...

I do believe that your rooster is a Rhode island red. There's one other breed that's extremely similar to the Rhode island reds, they're almost identical. Hope this helps
