    I have an existing flock of 8 hens (2 RIR, 1 black astrolorp, 2 black sexlink and 3 white leghorns) and two roos (1 EE who is the alpha and one RIR)all 6 months old....I know two roos is too much but they get along fine believe it or not, maybe cause they been together their whole life...

    I have keets that are about 8 weeks old. They are fully feathered but I think they are loosing the down on thier heads now and they look almost bald. is this normal?

    Well they are fully feathered and it is 97 degrees with heat index in the 100s here I dont think they need a heat lamp. lol

    Just culled my first chickens and one had red splotches on its skin

    well he made very tasty BBQ extremely lean...a little tough but edible. I am going to slow cook the other one and hope it is a bit more tender cause it sure was tasty

    We did not use a cone, didnt have one and wasnt expecting to have to cull a couple roosters. He did flop around alot afterwards, I hated it but I guess it could have been from that. I appreciate all the responses. I will let everyone know tomorrow if he tasted ok cause he is going on the...
