the little one is starting to look like a small female, agreed. the other two that hatched look like pullets too. What are the chances of hatching 5 pullets!

he/she does watch the bigger ones eat then follows, which is a pullet trait. Still hoping for a boy so these guys can make a flock.
2 week old pics. Out of the 5 siblings just the one lagging behind on growth still. “He” still eats, drinks and poops so I’m just keeping an eye on him. (bottom right on last picture with the stubby wing feather growth)
Hi @Joylands, thank you for the kind comment! I should update the article because the sloping poop board is no more. It’s was handy for a while, but I found a better solutionwas to relocate the roosts into the run. That way while the chickens are roosting their poop drops into the deep litter...

Nice day to be out and about today. No wind, cold and sunny.
The 3 wheaten marans are 24 days old. One of them is black in the wings, but the breasts still look quite light.
I am also curious about this. I have had one fox attack, and I'm sure either colour will keep foxes at bay, but my main predators are aerial. I'm considering getting electric fencing and making one long 3ft wide run along beside a 6ft fence. Hopefully hawks will not be clever enough to fly into...
