Gave our Orpingtons to our neighbors and since we started getting Grandbabies this year we decided to raise some chicks again. This time around we have one Silkie and 5 Easter Eggers. They are now 12 weeks old and eating everything in site.

We are not getting 6 eggs a day consistently. At best we get at least 4 eggs.
We feed them consistently Nutrena Naturewise Layer 16% Crumbles. They also get Meal Worms and Oyster Shell.

Question: When my chicks grow to be large enough to lay eggs, do I close my Chicken coop door every night when they go in to roost for the night, or do I just keep it open all the time?
Hello. My Sandy and I are new. We have zero experience in raising Chickens and are considering getting around 3 Buff Orpingtons mainly to raise as a hobby and produce eggs. Any advice would be highly appreciated.
