Do males fertilize eggs around this time of year

Just heard my rooster crowing for first time (yay!) should he be fertilizing eggs yet? He looks like he is mating with the hens. I am trying to get my BO to go broody for the 1st time and get some chicks the natural way. Any suggestions or advice would be great :)

Lost our first bird - trying to figure out what happened

Fortunately I arrived b4 they got eaten but too late to save them dogs (2) killed them and I pulled up n driveway and dogs took off. It's frustrating kinda hoping that this one I have is a rooster (that doesn't crow) so maybe I will hatch my own instead of having to keep buying more

My dog loves loves loves him some chickens. He is on a shock collar and hens have kinda learned where they and he can go so they stear clear but he watches them and if they are engrossed in their grazing he chases them. Labs love their birds!

It looks like a rooster and acts like one mounting my hens but never has crowed! Any comments on this?

I have problems with my girls destroying my flower beds so this spring thinking about making them their own back beside their pen and planting some cheap plants in it so hopefully (fingers crossed) they will leave the ones around the house alone.
