There were no symptoms beforehand. Eating and drinking normally, seemed energetic, everything seemed fine.
She was my favorite girl, of course Sure will miss her.
one of my otherwise healthy black australorp girls was found dead in the henhouse this morning. She was just lying on her side, no blood or ruffled feathers or other signs of attack. Was laying daily, eating well... any ideas what could’ve killed her?

I have a small flock of 7 (6 hens and a roo). They have a covered run that is 10x20 but they LOVE to come out and peck around the yard...which isn't a big deal EXCEPT we have hawks out the ying yang where I live.

We have so many hawks around where I live. It is so frustrating. I feel like we can never let them just roam around without constantly being on the lookout.

My Salmon Faverolle roo "Okra" is a big baby. He is the sweetest chicken in the flock! Lets us snuggle him...finds treats for his girls and feeds them with his beak...always protects them. He is a big, sweet goofball and we just love him!
