  • 9 week old pullets have been in their coop 1 week, Finally. Coop is 16' x 10' with six windows across the front, doors on both ends w smaller window above for cross ventilation. The ramp goes into a 16' x 24' run-in w 1/4" hardwire cloth & galvanized roof. The coop is inside the 2 acre goat pasture, so to keep out goats, dogs & any critter who might decide to enter the pasture, electric wire with a solar panel.
34 baby chicks, 17 breeds, 1st time chick mom. Pop-up tent brooder w 2 EcoGlow 1200. Ordered 25 chicks 1/30/23; with so many diff breeds it was 7/10 to hatch & be mailed. Meyer added 1 & I found my Buff Orpingtons, Black Astralorps, Easter Eggers at Rural King. I've become a pasty butt expert! Building a huge coop. Love this site - great info - thank you for education & continuing ed!
Chicks ordered January 30 from Meyer finally delivered July 11. Last night learned all about pasty butt as 1/3 of them had it. Otherwise healthy.
