Michigan Right to Farm Law, what does it mean?

This coming Monday, July 15th, a new ordinance to allow chickens in Clinton Two. Will be presented. It's a long way from being perfect, but I believe if enough residents show up to show appreciation for the effort, and calmly discuss elements that should be changed, then we have made progress...

Review by 'macombcochick' in article 'Using Sand In the Chicken Coop'

I would never use anything other than sand in the chicken coop. The article was correct on all information. I switched to it one year after dealing with other conventional materials, and swear by it. No more stinky, dirty coop floor. Yes, hens and eggs stay clean too!

    how to capture loose chicken

I have noticed a chicken on the loose in a field near my home. Does anyone have tips to share on how I might capture it. I believe it's an Americauna or EE. It's pretty skittish--when approached and always keeps a distance or disappears into the trees and brush. Amazingly, I have seen it on...

    Keeping Away Hawks?

    Poultry Predator Identification

Did you ever figure out what killed your chickens? Today I found three of my four in the middle of the day, without obvious injury- just their heads at odd angles and in various parts of the yard. One is missing and presumed carried off. Our yard is enclosed- it must have happened in the one...

    Need clean watering ideas

Try elevating it only slightly-- by using a few boards or bricks. Seems to keep the water more at their lower breast area.

    Special Treats!!

My girls not only love any fruit and veggies, whole or scraps, bread, grains ect., they go CRAZY for leftover meatloaf, pot roast, ground meat and venison leftovers. Between them and my dog, I never have to throw away food. Of course, I don't feed them poultry! Thankfully I'm bigger and can...

are your dogs and chicken friends

I have a 95lb., two year old, flat-coated retriever named Raven. She's supposed to be a bird hunting dog. She let's her four feathered sisters rule the roost! She even let's them bully her away from choice treats and scraps from the kitchen. It's quite funny to watch her try to "run away"...
