Hi! It seems to partly wipe off, the dark spot and some of the white. No bubbly eyes or apparent nasal discharge. Sneezing is maybe every few minutes (even after bringing her inside). I just checked again for any signs of dry pox, one of my hens has some tiny scabs if you think this looks like...
Hello all! My Silkie seemed a little out of sorts today so I isolated her to inspect her. I found this in her mouth. Does this look like canker or pox? She is eating/drinking but a bit listless. It’s not smelly. Her poop is bright colored and runny. She has a sneeze that developed today also...
Ok I’ll stick with the normal food with protein on the side. They get 18% whole grain layer. There was some excess grumbling so I think it is just a broody situation. it’s definitely more than just holding it until she gets out (I’ve had that as well). I will continue to monitor. Thanks!
Good call. I have her in a large crate for monitoring/isolation. In thinking it may be a stomach upset I am starting egg/yogurt meals to see if it’s easier to digest. Also because it’s a pretty rough molt I thought it may help with that. There was also some suspicious clucking this morning so I...
Crop feels normal... weird right?! I’ve never seen or heard of this either. I did isolate her to try feeding on schedule and giving extra protein for molting. Maybe I’ll break the non broodiness in the mean time? Hahah the joy of the toxic poop without the delightful screaming. They always seem...
Hi, she is a small game fowl/jungle fowl. I’ve had her about a year and it’s not her normal. It’s not just a large morning poop. It is broody in size, consistency, and smell.
Hi BYC!
I have a hen that has been having broody poops but has no broody behavior. The poops have been going on about a week. She does have a history of going broody so this is unusual for her (she has no problem sitting in a nest when she is broody). She has been a little withdrawn since she...
I have a bird that had been through who knows what but she did have some severe behaviors. I would say isolate her and handle her a lot. Then reintroduce her slowly to the flock. I feel like a leash might increase the aggression. I don't necessarily know about BSLs but I have a red sexlink who...
Thanks! Yes I'm torn.. I am reading that they are flighty and broody which I think would be a challenge in my tiny flock of 6 (1 is always broody and I don't have a good set up to have chicks). Still thinking.. I don't know why I am so in love with her picture...
Hello BYC,
I am thinking about taking in this girl from the shelter (as I have done in the past). I am trying to figure out what breed she may be to see if she could be a good fit for my small flock (I know chickens often act different from breed specifiers but I am trying to get some idea)...
Ok all.. so I have been glued to the internet tonight researching internal laying, eyp, etc. There was a shelless egg this evening and it almost seems like miss Millie is constipated? She fluffed up and then pooped a tiny bit. I can't feel an egg or mass in her. She again has crust around her...
