In Broody News! Flower has been cured! It didn't take much, two days of keeping her out of the coop and just free ranging with the others and blocking the nests at night. Neither of the other two girls turned and so I am very grateful for that.
@Chook Newby how are your ladies going?
Last night I blocked off from the nesting boxes. She didn't sleep with the others but on her own in the coop starring at the nests. Due to the heat and humidity we have at the moment my ladies have taken to sleeping on top of the coop.
I'm going to keep at it for a few days and see if she...
Ok I got my broody miss thing out of the nesting box and out with the other girls today. Last night I covered the nesting boxes so that she wasn't able to get into them. She seems normal and not stressing at all. I am home for the next couple of days so will watch the other girls and let them in...
Thanks @Teila that was a great read. Just spent the last hour getting up to date with the going ons of this thread. I will see how we go and let you know.
Hey @chook new going through the same thing for the first time as well. Keep me posted as to how it goes for you. I'm kicking her out now...
I haven't been on this feed for quite sometime. I originally bought three hatchlings for my daughters for Easter sadly two of our three originals were rosters. Ella became Allen, Rosie became Rocko and they had to go. Luckily our breeder found them good homes. Then we introduced Flower and...
Yes, I apologise for the misinformation, I had to ask hubby to clarify. Yes if they caught natives they released them, if they caught vermin they took them away and kill them.
It was a few years ago, a house down the street had a very exentric, super lovely, extreme hoarder living in it. She...
Luckily we live in the city and there is a company that comes, sets the tarps and picks them up when they are occupied. They take them about 5-10km and releas them into a huge nature belt. We have only needed their services once and so we will see how we go having chooks.
Not an expert and haven't had chooks very long but could you put out humane traps out so as to catch the mouse and not hurt it or the chooks? I was actually thinking of putting a few out just incase and have them in places the girls can't really get to. Where there is one there are many. Best...
MyHaven How is your flock going? Just caught up on all the posts I have missed over the last couple of weeks and can't believe your situation. Hope it is all going well and the affected chooks are getting better.
Wishing you all the best and hope everyone has a speedy recovery.
Looks good Fancychooklady will invest sometime into researching a better feed for our chicks. Sadly were we are the options so far seem limited and might have to see if I can order some better feed in.
