    Sexing Ameracaunas

Hello all! I have a trio of Lavender Ameracuanas, born 5/13. I’m usually solid on sexing at this age, but I’m having difficultly with these Ameracaunas. I’m confident on Lavender pullet #3, but I need some help now with Lavender #1 and #2. Lavender #1 absolutely acts male, #2 does not...

Photo of Lavender Orpington x Blue lace red Wyandotte cross?

Bumping this. I did this cross recently , however with a Lavender Ameracauna and a BLRW as the female. I had two F1s that made it to hatch. One was a male, blue laced. The female is bizarre, but gorgeous. Here are some photos. This attempt has been one of my favorite crosses so far.

Red Star x BCM, Dark Star x BCM

Update: 3/4 chicks obviously were cockerels. They were rehomed. The only pullet resulted from the Black Star x BCM. She looks exactly like her Black Star mother but with lightly feathered legs. Her eggs are very dark!

    Sexing Ameracauna Crosses

The following are Easter Egger x Lavender Ameracauna crosses, 6 weeks old. I can’t seem to put my finger on these babies in terms of gender. I’ve already culled out the males from this breeding group. The males had bright red pea combs and hints of wattles starting. I’ll post some reference...

Help! Roosters or hens? 18 weeks old

Beautiful little group. All pullets IMO!

    Rooster or Hen?

My vote goes to female based of first photos. I had a Speckled Sussex once I adopted from a neighbor. She survived 2 raccoon attacks, was moved around twice due to a forest fire, and was being fed layer feed! (I know, so ridiculous!) since day-old age. She didn’t lay eggs until 8-9 months and...
