Ok thanks. I guess these must be mixed or not the breed I was told then. Just glad she is not sick or something. So it's not all for it to be perfectly flat at this point?
I have these chicks I got at a local feed store. Supposed to be pensadesenca breed. One of them has always looked a bit different than the others and now I notice she has no sign at all of growing a comb, not even a bump. I am wondering if she is ok. I never noticed any sign of injury but when...
Two of my six week old chicks have recently transitioned to outside life and today have climbed in the undercarriage of my van for safety. If I try to get them out they seem to go further up. What should I do? I put food out to lure them but it's not working.
I got three chicks that survived. Ended up separating them from the flock because I had one hen attacking babies. All three are together as of today in their own little brooder, bonding and seem very happy. The wounded chick is even in with them and is recovering nicely. All is well!! Thanks!
Thanks. It appears to be open. I saw her right after she hatched and it was not there, came back an hour later to find her bloody and it looks like some flesh is exposed. I got her to drink a bit of water. I will go ahead and apply the blu-kote, the antiseptic made for animals, do you think that...
I have this poor baby chick that hatched today. A broody hen attacked it. It still moving pretty good and liftin its head, chirping a lot. Does it look like it will survive? What should I do? I have bluekote but didn't know of o should apply it. It's on a heating pad for now until I get my heat...
I think her "helping" proved to be fatal. Found one chick dead with goo and shell stuck to it, and another dead this morning, not sure what happened cause it looked fine. But did get 2 healthy chicks and one still unhatched. Never figured out what happened to the missing egg.
I have two broody hens in separate boxes with three eggs each. This morning they were in one box together, acting protective and the empty box was missing an agg and had one piping out. I carefully placed the piping egg under the mommas but see no trace of missing egg or perhaps chick that came...
Thanks, that would be helpful. Is there any swelling or pink color to your hens foot? It also feel warm to the touch but again has been that way for at least a few months.
Ok. Thanks! I didn't wanna go digging around and possibly cause some sort of terrible infection. I feel at ease after hearing this. She is my favorite hen and the best layer.
I have a hen that I believe has bumblefoot. I noticed her feet were slightly swollen and a bit pink a few months back but didn't worry because she doesn't seem bothered. Today I noticed the scab on one foot seems discolored and started researching. It looks like bumblefoot. She is not limping or...
I have two beautiful new chicks this morning and a third is poking its ways out of the shell! I'm so glad I left them alone!! I have a proud little momma hen. She didn't even leave them to eat so I brought her a bowl of food and small dish of water.
