    I've started following. In some ways, you are ahead of me - you have a house. In other ways, behind. I have chickens, duck,s rabbits and goats already.

    Thank you. We're going to ease into homesteading. Next weekend we're going to a local creamery for an event and I will have to use restraint not to bring home any bottle babies but we want to check out the farm and see if it's where we want to get babies from. We have about half an acre of just woods that I figure a small herd of goats would love. What we need is good fencing.

    I chose electric, and literally ran it right thru the woods. So you don't even see the fence (mostly).
    Though every strong wind, I have to walk the fence line (about 1/3 mile, we did not include the full property) to check for fallen branches, etc. and we went with (small) "meat" goats. I don't have the time or the patience to milk them, my wife isn't moving quite so spritely as she once did.
