    Adding Chickens to the Flock

One of the original hens has been a little bossy with them and in general the older hens stayed together and the new ones stayed together. The rooster seemed to divide his time. The new girls still slept on thier old roost last night.Today he tried several times to keep them all in one flock...

    Adding Chickens to the Flock

If it's ok to hop on this thread. I have tomorrow set as my introduction day and was thinking I'd let the new girls out into the run while I let the original flock free range. Should I let the new girls free range with the original flock later in the day or try to herd the original flock back in...

    RIR or Cinnamon Quenn

I was given this hen today and they weren't sure if it was a RIR or a Cinnamon Queen. Out of curiosity, how could I tell those 2 "breeds" apart? I'll include a picture but it's through their pen so not the best.

    EggS!

So, I hve 2 hens. Been getting an olive egg about every other day since about Labor Day. Occasionally lately I've gotten an egg a day for 2 days in a row, then back to every other day. Wasn't sure if I had two Olive Eggers and 1 was just starting to lay along with my established layer or if the...

    Introduction area

Yes, I know. I'm fine with them using the shelves. I like that they have options and can use the vertical space that was already there. Poop boards would be ideal, but I was suprised that these clean up as easily as they do. I have contemplated sanding them lightly and add sticky floor tiles...

    Introduction area

I thought they might roost on thebpallets which are secured to the wall. They dont they roost on the flat shelves. The step stool was blocking out the rooster while I was putting down fresh bedding

    Introduction area

Can I see what set up you have for housing newbies while working on introduction to the current flock? I need ideas. Have a friend who wants to trim her numbers (by 2 at least) and currently have 1 roo and 2 hens.

    Couple questions

All are adult. I assume my hens to be EE, the rooster I posted here and was told barnyard mix. The new hens are not here yet but are adults - my friend has decided she has too many. She has offered me a Leghorn, hasn't decided what other one she wants to go yet. I've read about introducing etc...

    Couple questions

I have a rescued flock of 1 rooster and 2 hens. I'd like to make a couple changes and winder if I should do 1 before the other. I'd like to start letting them free range some and I'd like to introduce a few new adult hens. Wondering if I should integrate them all before allowing them out of the...

    Breed guesses?

Rescued chickens. Hens both have "ear muffs" so I assume EE or mixes. Is it possible to identify breed of this guy?

    Scared?

She knows there were at least 6 chickens the day before she got these ones caught - so something happened to at least 1. They were told a dog plucked the tail feathers out of one of the hens I have now. If it wasn't going to be triple digits here all week, and if they were eating more - I'd be...

    Scared?

We got 3 rescued chickens recently. 1 rooster and 2 hens. They had previously been abandoned at a park. 5 were rescued from the park and the finder kept a half grown hen and rooster. The first night here the hens slept in the coop and the Roo slept on a perch out in the run. After about a day...

    Suggestions for placement within coop

I will try some drawings this weekend. There are 2 areas of hardware cloth over the door that wasn't in the picture. One is probably 4ft long by 8 inched high, the se ond is 5 - 6 ft triangular shaped with height being just a couple inches on the short end and 6 - 8 inches on the tall side.
