    Bunny loves the hens.

My lop eared bunny is housed with five silkies in a large pen. He gets along well with most of them. He even chose one as a mismatched mate? lol. He mounts him all the time and silkie mounts him back. I have one rooster that gets picked on by other roosters and the bunny is the worst. He chases...

Why are my silkies so dumb?

I love my silkies also but I have to admit they r kinda dumb. They have easy access to get out of rain but half the time they just sit there and get wet. I used to go out in the rain to make them get under roof. Sometimes they would stay and sometimes they would go right back out. Eventually I...

Hi. My name is Janet and I live in Oklahoma. I was looking for info on how to make my silkies go up the ramp into the henhouse and it brought me to BYC. I have 6 silkies and 13 various free range chickens. I look forward to meeting people and learning more about raising chickens

Silkie chickens won't use the ramp....

I have trouble with getting my silkies up the ramp also. The wood with rungs seemed to slippery. So I stapled a towel on the ramp and it makes it much easier to climb. They still won’t go up it by themselves though. Im working with them so will hopefully get them to go up before winter
