    Problems with James Marie Farms

He told me my check was on the way probably 3-5 times. I still have yet to see any check. Hopefully it's actually true with your eggs! =) What kind of eggs did you buy?

    Problems with James Marie Farms

Years later I still haven't gotten my money back from them. I've got half a dozen emails of him saying he was getting a check in the mail that day and finally he just stopped writing back to me. Do business with them at your own risk.

    Problems with James Marie Farms

No. He told me probably 3-4 times that a refund check was in the mail and it never was and has never came to me despite half a dozen emails confirming my address etc. I tend to really want to give people the benefit of doubt, and feel bad for the guy if it was all a giant misunderstanding...

Please I need help quickly. Quail eggs won't fit into my quail rails!

Yes, like all eggs, they go small side down. These eggs from JMF were just horrible but when I switched to the Northwest Game Bird eggs I didn't have any problem.

Please I need help quickly. Quail eggs won't fit into my quail rails!

@Tammy N Actually they are standard quail racks. I've actually been really nice and forgiving toward Robby. My eggs through James Marie Farms were all different shapes and sizes (as I noted in my original post), and Robby said that he was going to send me a refund for the bad eggs. He...

    Problems with James Marie Farms

Does anyone know what's happening at James Marie Farms? I was told by my contact there that he had some medical problems and now I haven't heard back from him in awhile. I ordered some eggs from him and had a huge problem with my order. I posted about it here...

When do you guys process your quail? And remove supplemental heating?

Thanks for the replies! It was 32 degrees F in my barn last night where the quail are so I figured I should keep the heat lamp going for a bit longer anyway. They are 3 weeks old and certainly feathered out nicely so I wondered if they were old enough to go without the heat lamp or not. I...

When do you guys process your quail? And remove supplemental heating?

I did a quick Google search but came up with limited and conflicting information. Assuming it gets cold at night, when is it safe to move quail to "grow-out pens" away from a heat lamp? And when is the "standard" time for butchering quail (cuturnix)? 6 weeks? Thanks!

Are white leghorn roosters and road island red roosters any more aggressive than other breeds?

Thanks for the responses! I'm getting them from McMurray. Maybe I'll just get a couple extra and then just plan on graduating the most aggressive ones into stew.

Are white leghorn roosters and road island red roosters any more aggressive than other breeds?

I was kind of under the assumption (probably false assumption) that it probably mattered more how a rooster was raised than what breed they were as far as their aggressive behavior goes. I want a few roosters in case I decide to breed my flock, and I had figured that a few road island reds and...

Please I need help quickly. Quail eggs won't fit into my quail rails!

I'm not sure how much the little giant differs from my Genesis Hova Bator, but it holds 120 quail eggs and if the eggs were small enough it would easily fit all 120 eggs. The trick is just getting normal/standard coturnix quail and not jumbo quail. My problem was that of the 100 eggs, some...

Please I need help quickly. Quail eggs won't fit into my quail rails!

Thanks! I have no problem with people wanting larger birds and I totally get why people do it. People just need to realize that if you go buy standard quail incubators and quail egg cartons and other "quail" apparatus, you are going to be in a world of hurt when you go buy jumbo quail eggs...

Please I need help quickly. Quail eggs won't fit into my quail rails!

Well since I wrote the original post I pulled out 3 of the egg racks and sorted through the eggs to find the 60 smallest eggs which I am now incubating. There was no way that they would have all fit, and the 40 largest would have been crushed by the other egg racks or just tipped out of the...

Please I need help quickly. Quail eggs won't fit into my quail rails!

Can I assume that the smaller eggs that I'm incubating will lead to smaller birds that will lay normal sized eggs so I won't have this problem in the future?

Please I need help quickly. Quail eggs won't fit into my quail rails!

Well that wasn't fun. I put the 60 smallest eggs into the incubator and threw the largest 40 away. The eggs were surprisingly not very uniform. Some were fat, some skinny, some tall and some short. Is this normal? I bought a $200 incubator so I wouldn't have to turn the eggs by hand...
