Hello all, It’s that time of year for us again. During my harvesting of our Christmas turkey. I have left it for a moment after plucking and returned to it covered in urine/muck. An obvious release of something but it is All over the skin and possibly in feather holes. Is the bird now ruined...

    Silkie help

They were hatched August so approx 8 months, do they tend to have different combs within the breed? These 2 have a flat comb and the 3rd has a more of a "traditional" chicken comb like a spiky Mohawk. They are of the same clutch

Turkey hanging time & processing help

Great article, very informative although hanging turkey after being eviscerated/dressed even in an enclosed room just doesn’t sit well with me. Unless someone gives me the go ahead aha.

They are heritage cross. Norfolk black / Crollwitzer. Do you hang them after you cut the head off? If so for how long?

Turkey hanging time & processing help

Hello, The time has come to do the deed with our turkeys. What would be the best way to process. By knife or by broom? We intend on doing it on Friday to let hang for a week before Xmas but are unsure if by knife will mean bacteria and the bird going bad. Do we hang whilst it has not been...
