I was thinking I should wait until I've got cleaner stuff in the stove. I know I got rid of some junk mail since I cleaned it last. I was using nice clean soil in a large planter, but they've kicked it almost all out. I was thinking sand might allow them to get themselves cleaner..but a mix...

Thanks! A friend told me to fill an old pillow case with beach sand and rinse it with fresh water and let dry. I'm sure it would be fine after that. I do have a wood stove however so adding the ash would probably be nice for them. Thanks for your suggestion. Denise

Hi! The ground is frozen here and the only diggable dirt or sand I have access to is at the tidal line at the beach. Will this be too salty to expose them to? I would like to give them a fresh dirt bath and everything they have locally to buy has fertilizer in it.

Sorry the delay in getting back to you. I worked a bunch of days and am struggling with the winter blues. It was a super effort to get out of bed. Is it okay to feed them their own eggs. I worry about enough protein. :)
