Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

The one on the left is a rooster, no doubt. But is the one on the right a pullet or "late blooming" rooster? Your expert thoughts are much appreciated.r

Our is 4 months old and she's the star of our flock. She's friendly, soft and loves to come over for a treat and a chat. Also she has the biggest eyes. Good luck with yours.

    Black/Blue Chicken with Mohawk

To answer to my own question. I think she's a blue Orpington/Polish mix. This is what she looks like all grown up. She lays a light brown/tan egg which sometimes we confuse with one of our Buff Orpington's eggs.

We just got two cream legbar chicks and the lady we bought them from said they were three weeks old but this useful guide helped me figure out they are actually a week younger. Thanks for the photos, very much appreciated.

    Change in Egg Color?

I have a leghorn that went through her second molt so stopped laying eggs for a bit. Right after the new year she started laying again. Her first egg was white but all her other ones have been a peachy tan color (see photo below) similar to an orpington's egg. I know she is the one laying these...

Can a chicken lay more than one egg a day?

Is this a seasonal bonus? My Leghorn laid two eggs today. The first one was cracked. I found her just sitting there on top of it and shooed her out of the nesting box after I realized she was just sitting. Did she crack it after she laid it? Then an hour or so later she laid another egg, this...

My (not what I thought it would be) Journey With Chickens

I just found this thread and have enjoyed reading it. Learned a lot too. Such a cute little baby. Congrats big sis'! Can't wait to see pics of your coop. Are you using pallets to make it? I have a lot of pallets available to me and have wondered if I could incorporate them into my chicken...

    Orpington Sexing Tips?

Thank you. The NPIP farmer said he had 100% accuracy last year sexing his BO so I was hopeful he got it right this year too. But it's good to hear what BYC folks have to say. They are so sweet, friendly and cute, just love having them in our flock. They keep us laughing and smiling. :)

    Orpington Sexing Tips?

No, their legs are somewhere between pink and beige/yellow (or bone) if that makes sense. Almost a lighter version from their feathers. So happy to hear pullets because I've had so many roosters since I started keeping chickens this year. Good thing I found new homes for the Roos because I...
