    Duck characteristics

Feathered legs are genetic, a breed that was developed retaining these feathers are Snyder Ducks which you can look up. It is an interesting mutation.

    Mallard Pekin Mix

Yes there offspring will be fertile and capable of reproducing as they are domestic mallard derived breeds.

Color expert's what shade of mallard is my Rouen cross?

Perhaps trout? Or something light phase.

Black bibbed duckling with brown splashes?

I was gonna say Calico (Ca) of being a possibility, but it doesn’t look like any particular phase or dilution of Mallard so maybe not.

Color expert's what shade of mallard is my Rouen cross?

I mean just with the Mallard variety without any added dilutions or different phases. I’ve had Mallards that are very light, to earth brown. Your duck may possibly be trout, as that makes them lighter.

Color expert's what shade of mallard is my Rouen cross?

I’d say your female is just Mallard coloured as there is quite a bit of individual variety with the colour and markings. Or she may be trout.

    What breed is he?

Here’s the Buff Orpingtons genotype they do have the blue dilution. Also, according to Ashton’s Colour Breeding in Domestic Ducks, this is correct. Buff is Bl/bl+, Blonde is Bl/Bl, and Brown is bl+/bl+. You might have blonde Orpingtons. And yes breeding to standard you don’t want the a...

    What breed is he?

Like Blue Swedish, Buff Orpingtons don’t breed true to colour. You get 25% blonde, 50% Buff, and 25% Brown I’m pretty sure from talking to breeders. Blondes I think are homozygous blue, Buff is heterozygous and brown is homozygous no blue. I will have to double check. This is a pet quality...

    What breed is he?

Could it possibly be a blonde Orpington? As that could explain the light plumage.

    What breed is he?

The brown one is a Buff Orpington, the white one is either a commercial Pekin or a commercial layer of some sort.

    Magpie Duck Breeding Tips

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any tips about breeding Magpies to standard colour? I find that it’s always helpful to get tips from experienced breeders. I am currently working on recreating the breed here in Australia, and good colour and markings is already a noticeable challenge.

    Indian runner X Pekin

Probably more stocky like a Pekin with perhaps a slightly more upright appearance. Should be between the two breeds if think.

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

AvGen Poultry has imported a few breeds from the UK into Australia. Including Vorwerks, Lakenvelders, Welsummers, French Marans, English Marans, Sumatras, Buff Orpingtons, Buff Cochins, White Cross Langshans and La Fleche. Shame they import any duck breeds, but biosecurity is pretty strict here.

    Transgender duck??

Not relevant to ducks, but there’s a species of fish I watched a video about yesterday that does change from female to male it was pretty interesting. I’ll see if I can find the link. Here’s the link:
