    What is this bantam?

Any guesses as to what breed this bantam is? I'm thinking it's a rooster.

Does anyone have any black copper marans or welsummers in the Bismarck or Minot area?

    Jersey giant?

I love having a rainbow of eggs in my basket. They taste the same, but it's fun knowing which chicken laid which egg, and I think it's pretty.

    Jersey giant?

Minorca makes sense. Her comb isn't as big a leghorns. I knew she wasn't a Jersey Giant, she's wsy too petite. I did say I'd accept substitutions, but I thought they'd let me know if they did. Oh, well. She's everyone's favorite. She is so friendly, she thinks she's a person, ha ha.

    Cochin or croad langshan?

I got it from Murray McMurray Hatchery, along with 35 others, most of which were a mystery exotic pullet collection. It's made IDing most of them a challenge to say the least.

    Jersey giant?

About 4 months old. I got it (and 3 others like it) from Murray McMurtry hatchery. It *should* be a jersey giant (highly faulty process of elimination), but they're the smallest chickens of the bunch.

    10 week old rooster

The others I have like this have larger patches of darker red.

    10 week old rooster

What breed is this? I thought they'd end up being very meaty. They were by far the fastest growing chicks I ended up with. They're still the largest of the bunch. Their legs are huge, but they don't have much meat on them. I'm wondering if it's worth waiting a few more weeks to butcher them, or...

Whiting true blues. I've never heard of them, so I'll let you know how they work out.

I ordered about 25 blue laying chicks that will be here in March. I may have some blue layers to sell in the fall. Nothing sooner. Blue eggs are hard to find here. I have a couple of blue layers and a couple of Olive eggers. I like showing everyone my eggs because nobody around here has seen...

    Chicken Breed Focus - Langshan

Yep. It really only varied a lot when she first started laying. As she got a little older, it was usually the same, sometimes a little more or less purple, but not speckled anymore. Too bad, the speckles were a pretty intense purple.

    Chicken Breed Focus - Langshan

I've had one of these, and I loved her! She was HUGE!! And while not the most productive later, her eggs were beautiful and (usually) worth the wait. They varied quite a bit, from a dusty brown to a speckled pink to a true plum. I just ordered more to be shipped in the spring.

Abandoned. I expected it. I was waiting for some fertile eggs from a friend, but her chickens quit laying. So I moved my hens from their temporary coop to the permanent coop and she gave up on the fake eggs that she was sitting on. For the best, probably. I have a small 7-egg incubator I'm...
