I saw an old post where you offered to help another member if they needed guidance with amputating a wing. I need to amputate my duck's wing tomorrow and could use a bit more guidance than what I've found online.

    skin disease??

Possible cyst like thing. See if you can break the sides away from the healthy skin. If it does, try to pull it out of the skin. Sometimes cysts have root like bottoms. If you get it all out, flush out with peroxide until it is not bubbling much. Then use a small travel sized spray bottle ful of...

    Mealworm farming

I have made it through a full reproductive cycle and have tons of tiny worms. I am stumped though. I know about the fuzzy cleaner worms and have a few of those. I have also gotten some small grubby worms that I believe are moths. But the worms that truly have me stumped look like black meal...

    Help identifying worms please

I started raising Mealworms a couple of months ago. I started with 1100 mealworms and had a couple of cleaner worms and beetles included. I have went through all the stages and now have thousands upon thousands of baby worms and eggs. But I have also come across 2 other types of worms in my bin...

How to grow your own mealworms instructions

I would think your local feed store. Make sure it's unmedicated starter. Personally I just use oatmeal. I get the big containers. One each of instant and the other kind. Took me half of each to start in my rubber tote. I have done well. In 1 month of getting my worms, I have eggs and a few teeny...

Help!!!! Neighbor says guineas are swarming everyone at her house (except her).

I had run out of millet awhile ago. Before that they were trained to come to my whistle. Without the millet, they quickly became obstinate and refused to come when I whistled. I told her I was trying to find some to buy as my store was out so I could try to get them to come back when I whistled...

Help!!!! Neighbor says guineas are swarming everyone at her house (except her).

My attempt at repairing funky guinea feet. Here they are roosting outside for the first time, running around with their huge sagging wings, and wandering around oblivious to the kitten who is stalking them under the piece of wood waiting to pounce. The kitty loves to practice his hunting...

Help!!!! Neighbor says guineas are swarming everyone at her house (except her).

Actually she did know they would be in her yard as her ex-husband has them as well, and my mother had them before as well. And they aren't over there all the time, maybe an hour or two on an off day. I also knew they would not stay in my yard, as any guinea I have ever seen was running free...

Help!!!! Neighbor says guineas are swarming everyone at her house (except her).

I didn't say I think it's fine for my animals. I talkrd to her before I got my cat, because he is an outside cat to run off chicken eating strays, because outside cats wander. I have restrained all dogs we have owned here, so none can roam to the neighbors. I discussed getting guineas with her...

Help!!!! Neighbor says guineas are swarming everyone at her house (except her).

We have 5 acres and it is completely fenced. But guineas are small enough to go through the fence. Even if they weren't, they can fly right over it. They are wild birds. If I put them in the coop pen, I might as well sell them. I got them for tick control. We had lots of ticks the last year. My...

Help!!!! Neighbor says guineas are swarming everyone at her house (except her).

I have 11 guineas I raised since I got them as day old keets in July. They have been free ranging for the past month. They started going through the fence to the neighbors this past week. After my dad cut the grass a couple of days ago, they spend a lot more time over there in their over grown...

How to grow your own mealworms instructions

The best way to not handle the worms when feeding chickens....use cardboard egg cartons. Cut the top and bottom apart. Stack together with lids on bottom and bottoms on top. When you peel the layers apart, you will find your worms have crawled in to hang out. Simply carry the piece outside and...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

The egg on the right is from my 1 1/2 yr old barred rock. The egg on the left is from one of my chicks I bought back on April 26, 3 barred rocks and 3 buff orpingtons. I later found 2 more small eggs today. 3 out of 6 chicks are laying and I know it's definitely both breeds. So exciting. Does...

    Heavily speckled/stippled chicken eggs

You can "dry" clean eggs and it won't ruin the bloom. I use a greeny scrub pad to gently get off anything unwanted. It works great.
