Yesterday, marked the new rows with stakes, ripped out the old (nasty) fence, moved half the fenceposts to accommodate the new rows, rolled the fencing wire in preparation for putting it back up.
Today: who knows! Maybe SixSpouse will mow the lawn (the one outdoor task that ensures I can't...
Never dry out? :o Sounds like Miracle Berry.
I've tried to order seeds or young plants multiple times, and have never actually received them - either had to charge back for nondelivered goods, or had it refunded with apologies. Some day, though. *sigh*
What did I do in the garden today...
Nope, just a hoe and some determination.
When I was a kid, I successfully de-thistled a field by going out and chopping them roughly every week. The thistles gave up before I did. I'm hoping to apply the same here.
Edit: How about a "three sisters" pack? Squash, beans, and corn!
Or a...
Went out in the field and killed all the thistles.
I'm sure they'll be back - I don't like putting weed killer out as it damages the plants I do want as well as the ones I don't, so I just hacked them off with a hoe. I'll go out next weekend and do it again. (lol)
I raked up a bunch of sticks. :D
In cleaning the sunchokes' bed, several tubers came up. I replanted some, and took the rest inside - that'll be dinner. Yum!
I'll try the barley and wheat, thanks!
Does anyone have experience with onions? SixSpouse wants to try them, and I've never grown them.
NEChickenNoob, I love it when the crust is thick enough to walk on! So convenient.
16 inches of snow yesterday, and more on the way. My garden looks like a nice spot for a snowman. (I can still see the fence posts, and that's worth something.)
The garlic that sprouted early is doing well enough in its pot, but it's not getting enough light, and I can't put it out in the...
Fair enough! I've had birds before, just not ever chickens, so I'm hoping some small-parrot etiquette will transfer. *s* Budgies can be pretty similar - trust is gained through being the provider of All Things Good, and handling comes after.
I'm so looking forward to it. >.> The neighbors...
We sure did! xD
Feed Store Guy was pretty nice about it, but seems to move the chickens by scaring them in the proper direction rather than being the provider of good stuff.
Lap chickens! That's awesome. It seems lots of people around here have really affectionate birds - that's just lovely...
Last night when we came home, there was a big black hen in the yard, which is not where hens belong.
Our neighbors are a tractor yard, a feed store, and a cattle pasture, and the feed store developed chickens a while ago. Star (my spouse) and I tried to figure out how she got in - the fence is...
Wow! Am I reading it right, that potatoes can be sort of a leader to convert not-garden into garden? This is a thing I need to do. :D
I have a big chunk of lawn that needs to quit being lawn so I can garden in it, and also a gross weedy area that is probably where the potatoes will end up...
