Pair of white silkies had black chicks..

I have 2 silkie young hens and one silkie roo. He is the only roo I have. I thought I would try to let them hatch a couple of eggs.. Well they didn't survive unfortunately.. Both were shrink wrapped. I opened them up and was shocked to see black chicks! The only other hen I have that lays white...

Wrinkled eggs because I'm holding my pet chicken too much?!

I have a sweet year old naked neck hen who is very spoiled. She likes to be held. I seem to be noticing a pattern that the next day after I have held her for any length of time her egg seems wrinkled. She was handled quite a bit yesterday by my family. This evening I observed her walking oddly...

Lost all but one chicken so far..Is there any truth to the Mareks resistant gene I have read about?

I have done so much reading on Mareks..I have tried all the suggestions for Helping my chickens to survive Mareks. I have lost 5 of my 6 chickens .I now only have one female turken. I will not get my hopes up too high that she will be the lone survivor...but it would certainly be nice. I worry...

Warning..GRAPHIC PHOTOS..need some more advice please

I just recently lost two to mareks last month. But it was the parlyzed legs type of mareks. My question is can I have more than one type of mareks hit my flock at one time?

Warning..GRAPHIC PHOTOS..need some more advice please

I have searched her for mites, searched the coop last nite for them and don't find any sign of bugs. Her nasty spots under her wings are really really bad. They smell and it looks like the skin is "eaten" away?.. It's very dried up looking and lots of raised crusty spots I am finding all over...

Icky crusty spot under both wings

And, no, I am 99% positive that George only had eyes for his silky hen. He never mated with hazel.

Icky crusty spot under both wings

I just got back from looking in the coop with a flashlight and I did not see any red mites anywhere. Is it possible for different types of mareks to happen in one flock?! My 2 that died exhibited the parlyzed legs symptoms. I only had 6 chickens to begin with, now down to just the 4 girls.

Icky crusty spot under both wings

No I do not have a rooster, he died of mareks a month ago, then one of my hens died from it as well. We thought hazel was coming down with it as well because she was acting sickly and holding her feet up alternating between the two. But it never progressed any further. It now seems as though she...

Icky crusty spot under both wings

My chicken hazel has a bad icky crusty brown spot under both of her wings...it is where the wing joint in connected to her body. What do you suppose this could be? She has been acting really mopey/droopy tail. We are giving her tylan 50 injectable.

This is BREAKING MY HEART! Another sick chicken

My favorite hen hazel seems to be doin fine. No obvious symptoms whatsoever. Other than last note when she wouldn't roost. I have given her her third hypericum dose tonite. She is not happy with me at all. Which I take as a very good sign:)

This is BREAKING MY HEART! Another sick chicken

There seems to be some partial paralysis with Bessie, sometimes worse . She does curl her toes. I have been exercising her legs, sometimes she will pull her leg away from me, but most of the time she lets me move them bicycle style. Any other exercises I should do? I
