Super stinky poop in 2 1/2 week old chicks?

Thanks--and I understand, I won't blame you ;) I just appreciate the thoughts! I just added Corid to their water--fingers crossed! I went and looked up the meds in the feed and it is amprolium. So, I feel better about that. I am in the Raleigh area in NC. We are supposed to get 8-11"...

Super stinky poop in 2 1/2 week old chicks?

We have 3 chicks that are 2 1/2 weeks old--1 of them has very solid, almost dry looking poops. The other 2 have very watery, dark brown, very stinky poop. Like super stinky dog poop. It doesn't look bloody to me. We have been holding them on our laps with a towel under them, and when I use...

Updated - Corid and Amprol (amprolium) Dosing

Thanks, I figured it would have to be done daily. But that site says not to give it to hens you are going to eat eggs from. I thought you could if you waited 2-7 days depending on the source??

Updated - Corid and Amprol (amprolium) Dosing

I have a question about changing out the water that has been dosed w Corid. It is pretty hot here--near 90 and their water is in an Igloo 5 gallon cooler. The water is in the shade and usually gets refilled about once per week and stays pretty cool. Can I dose the whole 5 gallons? Will is...

Swollen crusty eye--no bad smell or mouth pus (gross pic)

I have a 1yr hen who suddenly started showing eye issues on Sunday morning. Her right eye is very swollen (pea sized) and had a lot of drainage that crusted over around her eye and into her nearby feathers. I immediately used warm compresses, saline and gentian violet on it and put her in sick...

    Supplementing run with bugs?

We have a 10x20 run for our girls--and we live in NC and he ground is pretty much red clay. We live surrounded by trees so we add a wheel barrel full of leaves just about every week but have been thinking if there is anyway to amend the soil with bugs or critters. I know plants or grass of any...

How much feed do your chickens eat per day?

I do let them free feed but it seems like amounts have changed recently so I was wondering what others experiences are. I don't care how much each eats, I am just looking for an average. And since everyone has different sized flocks I figured an average per hen was easier to figure out.

How much feed do your chickens eat per day?

It seems lately that my girls will eat as much as I put out for them. I am using Nutrena layer feed 16%. I have seen charts where they say each bird will eat 1 1/2 per pound per week but does anyone know what that equates to per day in cups? I don't have a scale, and can't quite figure out...

    SAND in coop/run

How big is your run and how many chickens do you have? I am thinking about using sand in our run. I was planing on using a very large grain sand/river sand. What kind do you use? Thanks!

    Plants around the run?

I know the girls will peck and eat at them...but what are some bushes, vines, herbs, etc people have planted around their runs. We have part shade, part sun in NC clay ;) And I would prefer perennials...
