8 wk lavender Orpington- Male or female?

Just an update. Chickadee is now about 10 weeks. Still no crowing, no trying to mount the other chicken I'm sure is a hen- as a matter of fact, Chickadee gets chased by the other one. Here are some updated pictures. I don't notice any roostery looking feathers but I'm no expert. Thoughts? Hen...

8 wk lavender Orpington- Male or female?

No crowing. No noticed rooster-y behavior. Quiet and docile. Comb has just started getting larger. Still yellow, though.

    Lavender Orpington/ Black Australorp cross

Male or female? 7 weeks old. Feathers developed quickly. No crowing and still quiet. I only have two chickens (the other is a pure lav orp the same age) and I'v noticed a little bit of chasing but nothing bad. They still lay down and cuddle all the time. But this one is a little more feisty-...

6 week old Lavender Orpington- male or female?

I'm thinking female. Feathers developed quickly, comb still very yellow but has just barely started to grow a tiny bit. I don't have any other lav orps to compare to. Quiet and no crows. Very docile and loves being carried around like baby- won't have it any other way really. Hahaha What do you...

Chicken safe plants for mostly shade?

I am adding plants to my chicken run. I know chickens are destructive little fellers but I'd like to add something. The area I will be planting is mostly shade- A LOT of shade. What are some chicken safe plants that can grown in shade?

    Females? (I hope so)

Sooooo, not sure if this is normal or I just got a naughty one, but the black one loves to "fly". Like she (hopefully) jumps super high flapping her wings and she can already get out of her 2 ft tall brooder. I draped a thin blanket over the top as a cover and that keeps her in. But as soon as I...

    Females? (I hope so)

I just got these today. They are both 3 wk old. The lighter one is a lavender Orpington. The darker one is a lav orp/ black australorp cross. Any thoughts on them being male or female? They both have really small combs and I can't notice an signs of wattles. But I'm new to chicken world.
