I pretty much already know I've got a cockerel on my hands, but I wanted to share this interesting turn out i had with my CCL chick. She (he) has all the marking of a female, but yet at 4 weeks old out of no where appears the big pink comb. So, unless anyone has heard of a pullet getting its...
Thanks Donrae, I told the breeder all the feedback I got, she doesn't seem too knowledgeable and I have learned from all of this as well. I only paid $20 for the chick, but now I don't know what to do with it. I really want a CCL and don't know if any local breeders that have them and won't be...
thanks... well I did see the parents and they both are cream legbars, if she wasn't purebred then she wouldn't have the distinct markings which is sexlink trait, right?
I have had 2 cream legbars before, raised them from chicks, since they are autosexing breed it's easy to tell who "should" be male/female. Anyways... I've raised many chicks before, and always the comb of a pullet will take much longer to grow compared to a roo, and the roo comb is much more...
One of my best laying girls stopped laying about 3 weeks ago. I noticed at first that she had a little cough, and right before she stopped laying she laid an egg right on the floor of her pen instead of in her nest box. Her egg didn't seem nearly as nice as her usual ones and she had pecked at...
Hi there,
I know your original question is pretty old, but I was wondering if you ever did find out what was wrong?? My chicken is going thru the same thing it sounds like. Did your chicken survive?? What can I do?
Thanks for any tips!!
This is my new girl I just bought a week ago. I'm guessing she's 10-11 weeks old?? I had no clue what she was until I googled her description. Thinking she's an Austra White. Poor thing has a cough.
Looks to me like you have an Austra White. They are fast maturing, white with black spots, lay brown to cream colored, sometimes even white eggs. Their legs are grey as well.
