I really can't remember if they molted last fall, but yes, now that I think of it, I am seeing a bit of feathers laying around right now.

I live in CT. I haven't noticed any worms or parasites. Besides a few bare butts from some feather pulling, they all seem nice & healthy. Maybe it's all part of a natural slow down due to age & shortening days. Thanks!!

Thanks for the advice, everyone!! I may give them one more shot at jail without seeing the rest of the flock. Otherwise, you are right, they are a danger to the flock and I'm not doing the flock and favors by letting this harmful behavior continue.

We eat our cracked eggs if the crack has not punctured the membrane inside. Like sourland said, we do eat it as soon as we can, though.

Thank-you! Sometimes things look good on paper, but this plan worked out really well....in real life! The boys continue to enjoy their Tree Fort and are such great helpers with the chickens, espexially now that we are finally getting eggs!!
