    Post Your Coop Pics

I made both sides of the coop hinged, and lined the floor with linoleum. the small window and "shutters" is a small door so I can access food and water without disrupting the litter. I still have the 6 hens, but gave away the rooster. Since this picture, I painted the wood, and added 2 nest...

What breed/gender are my tractor supply BSL's??

So i decided to get my first batch of chicks from TSC, and i decided to go with BSL's, so i dont end up with any roo's. Well, after awhile i started to get more and more suspect on the breed and gender. Their feathers are all black, with a beautiful blue/green sheen to them. I ignored the...

I dropped in some popcorn and she grabbed a piece and ran around into the others like a fullback. I'm sure they will come around. The one that eats more...

Your thoughts on having "tame" chicks??

I am a first timer and got some 3 day old chicks 10 days ago. I was tryin to hold them and rub their heads, but I found out they would rather just perch on my middle finger, while I rub their chest with my pointer. Eating out of my hands works well, a couple hop right on my hand and try to crawl...

    Homemade Brooder?

I used a large dog crate lined with a cardboard box and a light shining into it. It seems to work very well for 6 chicks.

    Hello from Syracuse, NY

Hi everyone, we just got our first 6 chicks last Saturday. They are black sex links from TSC. I wasn't going to buy from there, but I didn't want the chicks mailed either. Plus I am pretty impatient. I was originally going to buy pullets from somebody local in may, but decided I want to raise...
