    Puller or cockerel???

with these new hens and existing we would have 15 hens and two roosters. Not sure if I’d want to chance it. We may build a separate coop/run for the new birds. 1 rooster with 5 hens...

    Puller or cockerel???

Boo! He’s a jerk but protects his girls which why we are ok keeping him around. What are the chances of successfully having two roosters? 😔

    Puller or cockerel???

Hello I have some Australorps that are about 6 weeks old. I’m starting to get concerned about one of them possibly being a male. We already have a rooster and he’s a jerk so wouldn’t likely be able to keep it. What do you guys think? It’s body is about the same size as the others. Thank you in...

DIY Thread - Let's see your "Inventions".

Was just reading and came across this post, so you just need something to deter hawks? don't actually need a net? We had some issues with a hawk during the winter and tried closing it in but since our run was an odd shape it is an eye sore. Something like this would be so much easier on the eyes.

    Cockerel or pullet?

Hello I purchased 6 chicks from TSC about 4 weeks ago. I believe I got 2 Wyandottes, 2 australorps, and 2 brahmas. They are supposed to be all pullets but you know how that goes...Anyway I’m not sure the gender of one of my australorps, it’s comb is small and pale like the others but it’s tail...

    Chicken run

so this may have already been asked but we are using an old dog run for our chicken run. We plan on putting a net over top for bird predators. But I was wondering if we needed to wrap the fence in chicken wire? We only plan on keeping them in there during the day and at night they will be...

    Separation Anxiety

thanks! :) i brought them out a few times before putting them into their coop, this morning they seemed content but i think it's more the lack of chirping when I come around. I'm pretty sure I'm taking it harder than they are lol

    Separation Anxiety

As long as I am not the only one! We are in Michigan, and its decent right now. I know they will be ok I just want them to be content. They haven't started using their roosts yet but I think once they will get more acclimated to their new home they will start being more natural. :)

    Separation Anxiety

Also how long should I let them acclimate to their...
