The whole property is sand. So I think moving the living area wouldn't necessarily stop whatever is going on. The rain and wind literally constantly shifts the sand. I rent as well so I've been hard pressed to plant grass seed and invest money into a property that's not permanent for me to keep...
They actually weren't from tsc. They were from a local feed store who orders from ideal. But they were rarer breeds that ideal poultry doesn't actually offer to the public, which makes me wonder if whoever ideal for them from has been sending out sick chicks. But the feed store people didn't say...
My sex links (8) were my first chicks. They are all just over a year old now, and I don't want to speak too soon but they all seem to be pulling through well. A couple sneezing and whatnot, but they're not lethargic or anything. Same with my black copper marans. They're 6 months old. And it...
I THINK I've made a decision.
I was out this morning sanitizing all the feeders and waterers and putting ointment on eyes and vetrx on combs and going through and checking everyone over thinking about next steps.
I think I'm going to head to tractor supply. I'm going to hit em with everything...
I do switch between adding oxine to water and vitamins and electrolytes. I'm surrounded by fields so rodents is possible, although I check on them throughout the night as well and I've never found any. Maybe I'll give deneguard a shot. It can't hurt at this point. I can't do corid and deneguard...
I have about 30 adult birds in an 8x8x8 coop and a 10x10x6 run attached and normally free range almost every evening for a few hours. I'm on 2 acres. I did the math awhile back and I believe that's more than the recommended space per bird.
I also thought malnutrition, maybe some weren't getting...
Yes, the necropsies were done at the state poultry diagnostics lab. Long drive and I paid for it, but I was hoping for definitive answers and or treatment advice... I badly want to save the rest of my flock. How is mycoplasma tested?
Plastic waterers
Plastic waterers here. Feeders too until recently.
The state vet and local vet both recommended not using de, as it actually doesn't treat infestations.
They're from ideal hatchery. I have other chickens I've raised from babies that are from feed stores who order through ideal as well, and never had this many issues when they were young.
Thank you for your support and thoughts.
That's kind of how I'm feeling. Like I'll never have them 100% healthy again no matter what I do.
I was thinking about just waiting to see who survives, and keep them around, but then there goes my breeding program. I wouldn't be able to hatch or add new lines or anything. And having to...
