trap and release is not applicable this time as they know the location of the coop and the little chickens before, So far i didnt have any dead or injured chickens after i removed the remaining 3. we also manage to catch 2 mice (brown mice) yesterday via mouse trap, they are medium sized and we...
We don't have spring loaded but we still have the old rat cages we used before and rat glue.
and i agree, we have seen what rat poison can do as we have an incident here before where one of our dogs have eaten the rat poison. (that time we mixed the rat poison with sardines for it have a...
we don't want to kill the little animals that's the reason we just release them from a faraway place from our house. (but i guess i have no choice and ill be using rat poison this time as things here have gotten worse.)
Yes, i already moved the little chickens back to the brooder leaving only the large ones until this problem is solved. (they never touched the larger chickens though.)
i guess your right, i think i need to use rat poison "again" on these predators as i checked on the chickens just now, i am down to 3 little chickens, the large ones are all good, i already moved the 3 remaining chickens back inside the brooder. and leave the larger ones outside and see what...
we do catch and kill for the really large ones. the small ones we just release them. And they are also sensitive to sunlight that if you leave them in the sun for a few hours they die quick.
thanks for the info. At least now i know what they are called, way back 2013 when we were on the verge of cleansing the rat infestation i can remember we can catch alot of these guys around, although they move slower than rats and mice. :thumbsup
They are ugly yes, we manage to catch a few of them before via enclosed mousetraps and set them free faraway. they are as big as brown rats but are a bit slower, as for the agricultural advisor, we have them but they would usually just say to grab a few boxes of rat poison to eliminate them...
Yes, lots of different types of rodents here, We have alot of this long snouted rat (i dunno what its called but ill post a pic from google.)
When i started living here in my province in Mindanao - Philippines in 2013 (i formerly live in manila), we had an insane rat infestation that they even...
Yes, i am thinking of adding a 1/4 inch hadware cloth (all round) for additional protection. yet the funny thing here is i had this coop since last year september, (with living 3-5 week old chicks inside of course) and only started having problems this rainy season.
Not covered, they are as is in the picture.
And yes, i am thinking it could be rodents, as i have found evidence just now after lifting the supposed to be nest box. here is the picture.
LOL :lau. thats sounds like a similar situation to my guineas when i had them housed with the laying hens...
