    Hen with Toe Injury

Thank you. She’s about 5 to 6 months old. We got her when she was already a couple months old from a local farm so I don’t know her exact age. She free ranges with a flock of 20. They get layer crumble made by our local feed mill. They also get kitchen scraps, yogurt twice a week and we recently...

    Hen with Toe Injury

I was away for a couple days and came home to my hen limping and hopping on one foot. I gave her an Epsom salt soak and have her separated from the rest of flock. Would this be considered bumble foot or is it just an injury? I have a couple different treatment options ready to go.

Thank you. I appreciate the bump. Yes, I’ve given her several epsom salt baths but this always seems to return. I’m starting to lean toward vent gleet. My only hesitation is that it’s not the typical white color and it’s doesn’t really have an overly horrible or strong smell.

    Safeguard and Feather Damage

Great, thank you. My local Rural King didn’t have albendazole but I’ll add it to my first aid kit for future use.

    Safeguard and Feather Damage

I adopted several chickens who are between 3 and 5 months old. They came from overcrowded conditions, and some of them don't have their tail feathers due to bullying and over crowding. I am in the process of deworming them with safeguard. I know some people report that safeguard can cause...
