    Molting issue

Well, I checked her oil gland today. I don't know exactly what it is supposed to look like, but it was very oily. I attached more pictures of her wings. Something I missed before is her right wing feathers still show where I clipped them almost 2 years ago! I thought she was molting...

    Molting issue

She is 2 1/2 years old. I have 11 ducks, 2 of which are drakes. 5 females and 1 male were hatched this spring. The "original" ducks don't really mingle with the new ones, so I think she would only be mating with the one drake. I have not checked her oil gland, and am not quite sure how to go...

    Molting issue

I feed her Purina Duck feed, and offer mealworms as treats daily. What would be recommended to increase protein?

One of my duck's wings also looks similar. I wasn't sure if it was hen-pecking, but I have never observed her being messed with by the other ducks. Maybe it is the same thing. Most of her flight feathers are just the quills. She looks damp since she just came out of the pool.

Rubber stall mats for coop floor

I would put the bumps face down, which would allow water to flow underneath.

Rubber stall mats for coop floor

Hi All, Fall is getting underway here in MN, and that means winter is just around the corner. Last year during winter, I used pine shavings as substrate in the duck run (chicken wire frame, with a tarp added to keep snow out). The shaving got wet, then froze, and generally made a big mess...

    BUMBLE SURGERY

Quick Update: The swollen area kept on growing, so I opted to do surgery to remove it. Things went very well, and with minimal cutting, I was able to push out a very large white mass. She is doing much better, and moving around without a limp again. I have Baytril now, and was wondering what...

    BUMBLE SURGERY

Thanks for the advice. There are no avian vets in my area, are there any over-the-counter antibiotics you would recommend?

    BUMBLE SURGERY

Hi All, I have a runner with a large lump under her foot. There is a small scabbed over area, but after I soak her and pull the scab away, all that is underneath is pinkish red flesh, and the wound starts to bleed. I believe what I am dealing with is bumble, and I want to know if I should...

    Surviving Minnesota!

Hi all, I've been chasing Bumble on one of my ducks for awhile, and have decided to take her to a vet. Does anyone know of a good avian vet in the South Metro area? Thanks!

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good avian vet near the Twin Cities. Looking to take in a duck and have it treated for bumble. Thanks!
