In the winter I mix cracked corn into my chicken feed to help keep them warm.
But this year we have Muscovys with the girls - just occurred to me that they are eating corn as well. Are they ok with corn?
We also save all table scrapes - they love their bucket of scrap :) The ducks go right...
Thanks! I will try and get closer/better pics. I am fairly certain the crested is a female - she honks all the time. The others are very quiet.
The black and white does have delicate features and appears to be a female to me.
It's the 2 mostly white that I am having a hard time with.
Thanks...
Hi All! It's been a LONG TIME :)
What do you think - my Polish chicks have suddenly changed and two have a very stringy crest even at just 2.5 weeks old.

Our coop runs are chainlink dog kennels. The kennels are against our shed on one side and have wires running across the top to keep the girls safe from hawks. And mind you, we live in a suburban neighborhood so hawks are...
Here, in PA, we had a horrendous weekend with heat/humidity.
Heat index was 110 and I tried everything with my girls.
About 3 weeks ago the temp was 103. I had a chicken who was weak since birth. She developed neurological problems and I thought for sure she wouldn't make it through...
What's throwing me off is the darker coloring....they are awfully dark for roos.
As of the Silkie/Cochin chick....crap shoot
These chicks are from my daughter's school hatch and all were dispersed between friends.
These chicks were a barn yard mix.....I think this one came from a Silkie egg and the father is a frizzled Cochin.....he/she?
Barred Rock (father is a frizzled Cochin) ....he/she?
Frizzled Barred Rock (father is a frizzled Cochin), not a great pic.....he/she?
Hey! Bucks County here
I have 1 week old Polish chicks if anyone is interested!
Idea: If anyone local would like to swap vacation chicken care I would be willing. Have you ever seen the face of a dog walker when asked to take care of the chickens too!

This is what I did after a dog attack....and my hen is back in the coop back to normal.....
Give her some sugar water (just mix some regular sugar in water) or you can try gatorade. You just want to pep her up and try to fend off shock.
Then let her rest in the tub for an hour or...
