• Well, I understand now, why my hens were not laying - and at the time I thought adding light did the trick. Many people have been complaining and many home farm chicken girls were frustrated with the hens not laying. I started mixing an expensive all flock with the bad feed and adding cracked corn, as well as giving kale and bread for snacks - and then the girls started laying again.

At the same time, I left a light on in the coop during the day. I wasn't sure how to fix the problem, but I was on the right track. The feed I am now getting from a local feed mill, and not from Tractor Supply. The hens love it. No extra additional mix is needed - and no light is needed.

It is disappointing to find out that something is going on in this nation to impede and sabotage people from growing their own food - not to mention all the supposed bird disease and fires destroying our food processing plants and farms. This was a wakeup call for many of us. We seriously need to raise more food than we are, for the future!

How long after you mixed the feed did they start laying? Did you check the mill Date of the bag?
