This is very common in young layers. Mine have laying soft shelled eggs from time to time.

The day after switching I got one normal egg and one soft egg. Today I got two soft eggs. I think the normal egg yesterday was a new layer. Will see what tomorrow brings

I'm debating introducing a rooster to my 12 4 month old isa Browns. I have a friend who is giving away an americauna rooster who is about the same age as my pullets. Is this a bad idea?

I started mine on laying pellets today. Will see how that works. I had quite a bit of starter/grower left so I just mixed it all together.

I'm currently giving then oyster shell In a separate container but they aren't really eating it. I was planning to switch to layer pellet once they all started laying. However, I'm thinking about switching them to layer today.
