So I need to buy a new water heater and I was wondering what the best ones are. I've looked at submerged heaters or floating ones and I don't think those will work for my waterer. Do the Cookie Tins actually work? Does the light bulb get too hot for the bedding? Any other advice if appreciated...
So I have 3 hens and one of them has been broody for about a week to a week and a half. Is there anything I can do to get her out of this cycle? I blocked off the nesting box so she can't lay in there, but now she just lays on the ground.
Okay thanks! I was also wondering about the Vaseline and putting it on larger combs. My chickens are Dekalb's and if anyone has any knowledge on whether I should or shouldn't but it on... That'll be great thanks!
So I live in an area where summers are hot and winters can get below 0 at night....I want to make sure my chickens are warm enough! I went out this afternoon and the thermostat read 14 F...My 3 hens i think are getting very cold feet! I have some pine shavings on the floor of their coop, but...
My chickens do poop in there, but they also use their roost, which is higher than the nesting box. It doesn't create a problem for me, but I was just wondering if it would be a problem for my chickens. Thanks!
So I have 2 chickens that are currently laying eggs and one that will start laying very soon... One of mine that has been laying the longest likes to sleep in the nesting box... Is this okay? And if not, how can I discourage it? Thanks!

This coming winter will be my first with my chickens and I was wondering if there is anything special I need to do, such as temperature wise and artificial light for laying. Our winters can get very cold, and I want to make sure my 3 chickens will be safe and happy! Thanks!
It's been in the upper 90's and in the 100's for the past couple days and days to come. I was wondering what the best ways are to make sure my chickens stay somewhat cool. Thanks!
